Managing custom RDL reports and custom report templates

Administrators can centrally manage custom reports and custom report templates from the Administration screen. Some report management operations, such as RDL report creation / deletion and template deletion, can only be performed from this location. This article details how administrators can manage FocalScope reports in ways that are not possible from the Workspace screen.

Managing custom reports

To manage custom report templates, navigate to the appropriate folder in the Administration screen as follows:


  1. In the [Main menu], select [Screen > Administration]
  2. Click the [Advanced properties] tab
  3. Navigate to the [Reporting] folder
  4. In the right-hand pane, click the [RDL Template] tab
  5. Right-click a report and select one of the following options:
    1. Add - adds a new report to the list
    2. Edit - renames and / or replaces the selected report. Please note, default FocalScope RDL reports cannot be edited
    3. Download - downloads a report. Please note, this only downloads the template; this does not download the report as configured in the [Shared Reports] folder in the Workspace screen.
    4. Delete deletes the selected report. Please note, default FocalScope RDL reports cannot be delete

Managing custom report templates

To manage custom report templates, navigate to the appropriate folder in the Administration screen as follows:


  1. In the [Main menu], select [Screen > Administration]
  2. Click the [Advanced properties] tab
  3. Navigate to the [Reporting] folder
  4. In the right-hand pane, click the [Excel Template] tab
  5. Right-click a report template and select one of the following options:
    1. Add - uploads a new custom report template to the reporting module
    2. Edit - renames and / or replaces the selected custom report templatePlease note, default FocalScope report templates cannot be edited
    3. Download - downloads a custom report template. Please note, this only downloads the template; this does not download the report as configured in the [Shared Reports] folder in the Workspace screen.
    4. Delete - deletes the selected custom report templatePlease note, default FocalScope report templates cannot be deleted

Managing report caches

The report caches can also be managed from the Administration screen in the same way as the [Shared Reports] folder in the Workspace screen. To manage report caches form the Administrator screen, do the following:

  1. In the [Main menu], select [Screen > Administration]
  2. Click the [Advanced properties] tab
  3. Navigate to the [Reporting] folder
  4. In the right-hand pane, click the [Report Cache] tab
  5. Right-click a report template and select one of the following options:
    1. Edit - currently not supported
    2. Delete - deletes the selected report cache. Please note, deleting a report's cache can affect users who are trying to view a report based on the deleted report cache. Use due discretion when deleting report caches
    3. View - shows the selected report cache in the Report Viewer
