Leverage our new data masking tool to comply with privacy and data protection laws such as the GDPR and PDPA.
Businesses—particularly consumer-facing ones—often have to process sensitive customer information for essential transactions. At the same time, they must protect this data in compliance with privacy laws, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), and other local governing policies.
In our latest step to help companies with protecting data privacy, we have added the ability to automatically mask sensitive data, such as credit card and identity-related numbers, and more.
How it works
Once masking is activated, FocalScope automatically detects credit card and ID sequences using the Luhn algorithm. Thereafter, the system blocks out the content like so:
Credit card numbers
- Text received in FocalScope: I want to pay by VISA. My card details are: 1234 5678 1234 5678
- Text stored in FocalScope: I want to pay by VISA. My card details are: **** **** **** 5678
- Text received in FocalScope: Please cancel my subscription. My ID is: A 1234567 L
- Text stored in FocalScope: Please cancel my subscription. My ID is: A ****567 L
Masking can be applied to incoming, outgoing or both types of messages. This helps to prevent agents from accidentally forwarding sensitive information to another party.
Adjust data masking to your needs
Our data masking feature is flexible, and can be adjusted according to your business needs as well as governing data laws. You can choose any type of sequence to be recognised and decide how much information is to be redacted by the system. For instance, you can choose to display only the first three, or the last two digits of the sequence.
Protect customer and enterprise data
Masking is critical to safeguard sensitive data from evolving cyber threats around the world. Protecting your enterprise and customer data has been our priority from the start, and we are proud to have organisations such as governments, hospitals, and telcos rely on us for data security.
