FocalScope's RSS Reader works similarly to its News Ticker feature. This allows you to load an internet news feed (or any other feed) and have it display to selected users' UI in FocalScope. Large companies may have internal feeds that keep people up to date on projects and may feed very useful information to a number of people, but for this demonstration we'll use BBC's public news feed.
In the Administration screen, expand the [Global Configuration] node, expand the [News Ticker] node, click the [RSS Reader] folder and right click and select [New...] in the right hand pane.
Click [Add] to select which users will get this feed cast to their UI in FocalScope.
I've added all the users to the broadcast list for the RSS feed. You can select multiple accounts by holding down the [Ctrl] button and clicking multiple accounts. If you want to select all but have a long list of users, simply click the topmost account, hold down the [Shift] key, scroll down to the lowest entry in the list and click that account. Everything in between will also be selected.
Click [Ok] once you've made your selection.
Back at the Channel Properties screen we can see all the users we selected added to the list. They will all receive this feed once we click [Ok].
Our news feed starts broadcasting after a few seconds and will update our notification bar with the news headlines.
Reloading the UI (Ctrl + F8) will reveal a new [RRS] icon in the Main Toolbar. Clicking it directly will load the full feed into a popup. Optionally you can click the arrow just right of the icon and select [Read news...] or [Mark all as read], which will clear the headline broadcasts for this feed, in the notice bar, until new headlines become available.
