The Thin Client options cover some of the options you have to alter the thin clients UI and some other options such as auto-checking for a newer version or how the tray icon appears.
Locating the Thin Client & Accelerators Options
You will require Administrator privileges to access the "Global Configuration/Thin Client & Accelerators" screen.
Navigate to the [Screen] tab and select [Administration].
Expand the [Global Configuration] node and then expand the [Thin Client & Accelerators] node. In the right hand pane you will see all the options we will be covering in this guide.
- [disable UI animation] is very similar to "remove special effects" from windows GUI. Ticking this box will remove "fade" & "slide" effects from open windows and dialogs as well as "info popups" that appear as you hover your mouse over a setting or feature. This may yield a modestly improvement in performance on slower machines.
- [don't check if there is a new version of FocalScope Thin Client application available] allows you to skip auto updating of your FocalScope Thin Client. You may wish to disable this on terminal servers where the Thin Client is constantly in use by some user and thus locked. A locked Thin Client cannot be updated as it is in use. As such, you can manually disable updates should your Thin Client be in constant use.
- [enable "last visited" state fir tucketboxes] when ticket will retain the last email, thread, and ticket state tab a user was on before navigating away from the parent ticketbox.
- [Drag&drop data format:] adjusts in what format an email is saved when it is dragged out of FocalScope and dropped elseware (E.g., the user's desktop).
- [Start external drag&drop on:] is used to specify which key combinations need to be executed to drag and drop a file to FocalScope's UI.
- [Tray icon:] adjusts the appearance of the icon displayed in the "System Tray" in the "Windows Taskbar". This is purely aesthetic and can be set by taste.
This covers the settings for the "Global Configuration" part of the tab. Next follows the "Text accelerators" options which require their own lesson since they require additional knowledge of Shell Scripting and HTML linking. Please see the lesson Create Accelerators for more detail on this feature.
