In the Administration screen, expand the [Global Configuration] node, expand the [News Ticker] node and right click and select [New...] in the right hand pane.

1. In the top [Text:] text box, you can add the message you wish to display.


2. [Display start:] lets you enable a day to start broadcasting the message you wrote. The calendar date and time become available for adjustment once you click the tick box. Optionally, you can decide to broadcast the message immediately.


3. [Display end:] when ticked allows you to set the calendar date and time to which the message broadcast will run.


4. The [Display to users] list shows all the user accounts which are selected to receive the notice broadcast, effectively allowing you to make it a multicast sent out only to selected users. It may be that certain people would need notifications specific to them (Think of a technical department VS a sales department). The technical department may be notified of maintenance schedules or upcoming backups which may have no meaning for other people in your FocalScope environment.


5. Click the [Add] button to select the accounts you want this notice cast to.

Since this server upgrade will bring down the system for 2 hours, I've decided to select all the users in my FocalScope environment and broadcasting the notice. You can select multiple accounts by holding down the [Ctrl] button and clicking multiple accounts. If you want to select all but have a long list of users, simply click the topmost account, hold down the [Shift] key, scroll down to the lowest entry in the list and click that account. Everything in between will also be selected.

Click [Ok] once you've made your selection.

Back at the Message Properties screen we can see all the users we selected added to the list. They will all receive this message once we click [Ok]. Since we selected the "release immediately" flag, the message will start broadcasting within seconds.

Zoom

We can see in the Notification bar the message has begun broadcasting. It will scroll automatically through long messages and queue the next messages we create in News Ticker.
